Procedure for the selection of monographs

The CCHS researcher can select monographs through different procedures:

Selection through online catalogues

The researcher who finds a work of his/her interest in a library, or through a distributor or publisher, can take the details and submit them by e-mail to the acquisitions mailbox: cchs_adquisiciones.tnt@cchs.csic.es

Selection through printed catalogues

Printed catalogues which are received from various publishers are put at the disposal of researchers in a display stand located at the entrance of the library, beside the donations service.

The researcher may take the catalogue and mark on it the works of his/her interest.

The marked catalogue must be sent to the library reception desk indicating the name of the researcher.

The catalogue can also be sent via internal mail to the acquisitions department, indicating the name of the researcher.

Selection of books for appraisal

The library accepts books sent for appraisal by publishers, distributors and libraries with whom there is a previous established agreement.

The person in charge of the department will contact the researcher responsible for the subject which is dealt with in the works received, in order to inform this person that he/she may visit the acquisitions department office to review them. If the researcher considers it appropriate to select any of the works, the library will initiate the purchasing process. Works which have not been selected will be returned to the supplier.
